Did you know that the highest paid footballer earns 731,506 US dollars per day? After one high profile transfer before the end of 2022, we can finally rank the top 10 highest paid footballers in 2023. Who do you think it is? well, I am Sharon Okumu and let’s find out.

Coming in at number 10, is Kevin De Bruyne. The 31-year-old Belgian plays the attacking midfielder for Manchester City and is certainly one if the best assisters in football today. He earns a massive salary of 29 million US dollars per year.

At number nine is a player you probably did not expect and actually forgot about. Andreas Iniesta. The Spanish legend earns a total of 30 million US dollars. Before going to Japan, he spent 22 years at Barcelonaand became a true club legend.

Real Madrid’s forward Eden Hazard comes in at number 8with a whooping 31 million dollars per year.

Robert Lewandoski comes in at number 7. The Barcelona centre forward earns 35 million US dollars per year.

Manchester City big signing has lived up to his hype. Erling Haaland comes in at number 6 earning 39 million US dollars per year.

At number 5 is the Egyptian king of Liverpool. Mohammed Salah signed a new three-year deal at the start of July 2022 that made him the highest paid player in the history of the club. He earns a total of 53 million US dollars per year.

Neymar Jr comes in at number 4, earning 68.5 million US dollars per year. Neymar has constantly been among the top 5 or top 10 players in the world in the last decade.

And now for the top 3, Lionel Messi starts us off earning a total of 120 million US dollars per year. He is arguably the best player in the history of the game.

The French giant, Kylian Mbappe comes in at number 2 earning a total of 128 million US dollars per year. Despite frequently stating his desire to play for Real Madrid, he opted against joining the Spanish giants and instead committed his future to Paris in a deal that apparently gives him control over coaching appointments and player recruitments.

And for the highest paid player, you guessed it right, Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro. His recent move to Al Nassir sees the player earning a staggering 200 million US dollars. It’s a move from the Portuguese pro that caused much debate, but one, that’s no denying that’s on hell of a pay day for him.

The National Basketball Association previously known as the Basketball Association of America is a professional basketball league in Northern America composed of 30 teams. The franchise is worth 90 billion dollars, including team related businesses and real estate held by owners. Individual NBA teams primarily make money via ticket sales, merchandise sales and TV deals. through these arrangements, every teams in the league is worth at least i billion dollars and the top three are worth over 6 billion dollars. The richest team, Golden State Warriors, is worth 7 billion dollars.

There has been a rising trend in the collection of revenue from the 2001/2002 season, with the 2021/2022 season amounting to 10 billion dollars. Some of the revenue has been utilised in NBA Cares that works with national and international youth-serving programs that support education, youth and family development and health-related causes.

The players are also making great fortunes with the average annual pay for a professional basketball player being 47,840 dollars. However, most players are making more with then highest paid player being Stephen Curry of Golden State Warriors earning around 48 million dollars.

Considering the  value of sports ball in kenya I did a purchase of the  cheapest   sports ball. The fake version of Mikasa ball , one  was about ksh 1100 .Being fake  i thought that i kinder overpaid for it.

 I also did a research  on the amount  paid to acquire original versions  of professional  sports balls and here is what I got

The most expensive is an Official NBA basketball by Spalding. $170.

This is an Official NFL american football by Wilson. $99.

Here’s an Official MLS soccer ball by Adidas. $99

Official MLB baseball by Rawlings. $27 (for Souvenir version). Unofficial similar quality ball ~$4.

Pro V1 golf ball by Titleist. It’s one of many balls that pros are allowed to hit. But it’s the one used by the most pros. $52/dozen.

Wilson US Open tennis ball. $2-$3 when you buy in bulk.

 This shows that  the sports equipment  are expensive  and that sports require a good investment.

Tottenham score late as they get a win over Brighton

Tottenham faced Brighton as they hosted the game at North London, England on the eight of April, 2023. After the visitors had dominated the early stages of the game, Son Heung-min put Spurs in front with a glorious effort curling just inside the far post from the left edge of the penalty area. Eventually after a lot of pressure, Brighton were able to get a leveler as Solly March’s corner found Lewis Dunk unmarked at the far post to head home.

Brighton should have been further ahead before Kane’s winner with two goals disallowed by VAR, understandably for handball from Kaoru Mitoma and Alexis Mac Allister, but incredibly only seconds were taken to decide Mitoma should not have had a penalty when he was stood on in the penalty area.

After an altercation on the touchline which saw both Italian managers sent to the stands – as much for not controlling their staff as for their own conduct – Kane gave his side an undeserved victory 11 minutes from time when he left Jason Steele with no chance after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg found him alone on the edge of the box with a perfect pull back.

The win puts Spurs in fifth spot, three points behind Manchester United and Newcastle, while Brighton slip to seventh.

The 2023 season got off to a rocky start for Mercedes with their struggles to find the right set up for their car compared to the blistering start their competitors have had, securing both the constructors and the drivers’ titles in each of the three races so far.  

The rivalry between Red Bull and Mercedes has been one of the defining stories of F1 in recent years but this season has seen Red Bull establish themselves as the team to beat. This has toned down a bit the battle between the two stars, Verstappen and the seven-time world champion, Hamilton.  

The new season has been exciting to watch thanks to the dominance of the Red Bull and the struggles of the Mercedes making them fall right into the mix for a thriller in between the Ferrari and the Aston Martins, who have had an improvement from the last seasons. This leaves the Red Bulls far up-front, and it looks like the dominance is here to stay.
